Faye B. (Wessel) White died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Newton Village Care Center in Newton, she was 89. She was the daughter of Elmer Gale and Alpha Fern Harris Wessel and was born on May 15, 1927 in Unionville, Missouri. She was a graduate of Newton High School in 1945.
On June 30, 1945, Faye was united in marriage with Donald C. White at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. They were blessed with three children, Larry, Karen and Debra.
Faye worked at Inter Ocean Reinsurance in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for 2 years. She was co-owner of Bedford Dry Cleaning for 3 years. She also worked in the Accounts Payable Department for the Maytag Company in Newton for 31 years, retiring in 1986.
Faye was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton since she was 18 years old; she was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Lady Elks and Women of the Moose.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, dancing and listening to Big Band music.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald C. White in 2006; an infant daughter, Karen in 1951; sisters, Virginia Kling and Dorothy Anspach; and brother, Lloyd Wessel.
Those left to cherish Faye’s memory are her children, Larry (Sabeth) White of Des Moines and Debra (Robert) Anderson of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren: Nicholas (Natalie) White, Alissa (Mike) Bubon, Miranda (Ben) Piepho, Nathan (Shannon) White, Anthony White, David Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson, Christopher Anderson and Christopher (Carolyn) Stafford; nine great grandchildren; and her sister, Doris Wessel of Marshall, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Faye’s funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. The family greeted friends beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial was at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton following the funeral service and lunch.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or to the Iowa River Hospice. Memorials may be mailed to the Wallace Family Funeral Home, please put Attn: White Family on the envelope.
