Kommer, Leendert – 1883-1955

Leendert Kommer, son of Adriaan Kommer and Maria Evertse, was born in The Hague, Netherlands, on October 30, 1883. He came to America the first of April, 1906, and settled in Monroe, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Marie Stufkens on March 3, 1907, and together they spent 48 years of happiness.
He made confession of faith in the Reformed Church in Otley and later transferred his membership to the First Reformed Church in Pella where he was a member at the time of his death.
He passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on May 13, 1955.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Marie, a son Arie of Pella, and a daughter Martha, Mrs. Vienus Van Sant, of Newton, Iowa; also three brothers, Marinus and John living in Holland and Pete Kommer of Newton, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Arie G. Klein of Pella and Mrs. Marie Ryan of Chicago. There are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Armstrong, who died on March 4, 1950 and two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were conducted from the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home Monday, May 16, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Anthony Haverkamp in charge. Burial was in the cemetery at Monroe, Iowa

Funeral services for Lane C. Kommer, 71, were held Monday, May 16, at Van Dyke-Duven Funeral home in Pella. The Rev. Anthony Havercamp, pastor of the First Reformed church in Pella, officiated at the services and burial was in the Monroe cemetery.
Born in the Netherlands, Mr. Kommer came to the United States in 1906, settling in Monroe. He spent his entire life in the Monroe and Pella area.
Mr. Kommer is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Vienus Van Sant of Newton, one son, Arie Kommer of Pella, two brothers in Holland, one brother, Pete, in Newton, and two sisters.
