Van Der Velden, Matheus “Tice” – d. 1941

Matheus (Tice) Van Der Velden was born on September 22, 1885 at Ponderegen, Netherlands and departed this life on December 16th, 1941.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cornelia (Schalk) Van Der Velden and by four sons, Hugo, Bastian and Marion, all of Monroe and Leonard of Camp Claiborne, Louisiana; his father, Hugo Thomas (Van Der Velden) and four brothers, Adrian, Dirk, William and Hubert, all of the Netherlands; and three sisters, Dorothy, Martha and Dirkie. also of the Netherlands. Three brothers preceded him in death.
He made his confession of faith in the Lord early in life in the Reformed Church of the Netherlands.
Last rites were observed on Thursday, December 18th at 12:30 at the residence and at 1:00 at the Reformed Church of Otley.
Mrs. Van Houten, assisted by Miss Verna Vande Kieft, rendered two sacred hymns. Rev. Faulkner of the Otley Reformed Church and Rev. Van Houten of the Otley Christian Reformed Church officiated. Interment was made in the Monroe Cemetery at Monroe.
