Nolin, Elvin N. – 1887-1958

Elvin M. Nolin, son of Syrus and Robena Marshall Nolin, was born in Jasper County, Iowa on October 4, 1887, and passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon March 12th at his home in west Monroe.
On February 21, 1912 he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Fennema, the marriage being performed in Monroe. The couple spent their entire married life in the Draper neighborhood, with the exception of a few years in Oklahoma. January 1st of last year Mr. and Mrs. Nolin retired from the farm and moved to Monroe.
Born to this union were two sons and two daughters, namely Rev. John M. Nolin of Des Moines, Iowa; (Floy) Mrs. A. T. Modrak of Baltimore, Md., (Wilma) Mrs. Clyde Carter of Mobile, Ala., and Robert Gene of Monroe.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lena, four children, one brother, William H. Nolin of Ames, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Gerrit DeJong of Tipton, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The remains were taken from the Garden Chapel Funeral Home Saturday morning to the Tool’s Chapel Methodist Church where services were held at 2 o’clock p.m., the Rev. Donald Wooge officiating. Interment was made in the Monroe Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were Mr. Dale McConeghey, Mr. John Nolin, Mr. Harvey Machin, Mr. Dean Woody, Mr. Carroll Tool and Mr. Wayne Tool. Caring for the floral contributions were, Mrs. Mark Woody and Mrs. Orville Kaldenburg. One of the deceased favorite religious selections were rendered by Mrs. Robert Sheeler accompanied by Mrs. Bert Marshall, “The Old Rugged Cross.”
