William Neff Funeral Tuesday
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Crumpacker Funeral Home for William Neff, who spent most of his life in the Fairmount community near Monroe.
The Rev. Guy Hamilton of Washington, Iowa, officiated at the service. Special music was provided by H. C. Dickman, accompanied by Susan Dickman.
Pallbearers were James Clark, Jr., Harold North, Elbert Moore, Ivan Bell, Raymond Bell and Hubert Jennings.
William Neff, the son of John and Catherine Neff, was born in Fairfield County, Penn., June 2, 1871. And departed this life June 2, 1956 at Skiff Memorial Hospital, after a short illness, at the age of 84 years, 11 months, 11 days.
At an early age he moved with his family to Iowa and later to Nebr. Where they took a homestead in Hoard County. As a young man he returned to Iowa to work around Metz and Newton.
He was married to Margaret Sharp of Fairmount at Newton on January 31, 1905 and moved to Colfax for one year. Then came to parents home from 3 miles northwest of Monroe where he lived until the past year which he spent in the home of his children.
He was affiliated with the Methodist church at Fairmount.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edith Knight of Mountain Home, Ark., and Mrs. Maude Shore of Newton, one son, Floyd, of Monroe, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.
His life and memory will be cherished by his many relatives and friends.
