Prominent Farmer Takes Own Life
Prominent Farmer and Citizen of Red Rock Township Found Hanging Last Night At His Home South of Monroe
The citizens of the community south of Monroe were horrified to learn that John LeGrand living south of Monroe had been found hanging by the neck at his home with life extinct at about 7 o’clock Tuesday evening by one of the members of the family.
The unfortunate man had been seen in Monroe about five o’clock on the evening of his rash act and an hour later one of the members of the family found him hanging in the building at his home with life extinct.
The family cannot imagine what caused him to commit such n act, as it seemed that he was enjoying very good health and nothing that anyone knew to worry about. The coroner was called and his death was pronounced suicide.
Mr. LeGrand was one of the prominent farmers of his community, and has lived in Marion county for many years. He was highly respected among all who knew him intimately and was quite successful in his calling as a farmer. He raised a fine family of children and as a citizen and neighbor there were none more appreciated. His death has cast a gloom over the entire community.
It is expected that the funeral services will be conducted tomorrow, Thursday afternoon. The surviving members of the family have the heartfelt sympathy of all who know him.
