Monroe News – Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24, for Joel E. Reed of Hartford, Connecticut, from the Crumpacker Funeral Home. Mr. Reed was the son of Joel and Mary Reed and was born and reared in Monroe.
Those surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Mary Reed of Chicago, a son Joel E. Reed Jr. of San Francisco, California; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Jennings, Chicago; Mrs. Lulu Vander Zyl of Alberta, Canada; two brothers, Geo. Reed, Eldon, Iowa, and Charles M. Reed of East Chicago, Indiana.
