Milo R. (Dick) Gomez, 61, of 4560 Lincoln St. in Newton died Thursday, March 28, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Burt Holloway, pastoral intern at Community Heights Alliance church in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. Memorials may be left in the name of Dick Gomez at the Wallace Family Funeral home.
The son of Rumaldo and Marie Balmer Gomez, he was born April 25, 1940 in Iowa City. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton. He has lived in the Newton and the surrounding area most of his life.
Mr. Gomez was a pizza maker and dishwasher at Giovanni’s and a dishwasher at Perkins in Newton.
Survivors include a son, Dan Gomez of New Jersey, a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Clark Mathews of Phoenix, Ariz., four grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, M. Lucille and Raymond Dobbs of Newton and Margaret Baxter of Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
