Kimberling City, Mo. – Former Newton resident Lura Beth (Russell) Friel, 76, of Kimberling City, Mo. died Monday, April 7 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stumpff’s Funeral Home in Kimberling City, Mo.
Visitation with the family after funeral services will be at the clubhouse at the Schooner Bay Landing.
Memorials to the Unity Christ Church of the Hills, 2066 S. Highway 76, Branson, Mo. 65616 or the Kimberling Area Library, P.O. Box 730, Kimberling City, Mo. 65686 will be accepted.
The daughter of Lura Preston and Lynn Amos Russell, she was born March 29, 1921 in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1939 and later graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield before moving to Kansas City, Mo. She resided there for 38 years before moving to Kimberling City, Mo.
Mrs. Friel was employed as a regional director for 26 years at Walter Ross and Associates and as an administrative assistant for 10 years by the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. She was a member of several groups including the Unity Christ Church of the Hills in Branson, Mo. and the Kimberling Area Library Angels.
Survivors include two sisters; eight nieces and nephews; and 10 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1974; and a sister.
