Mrs. Berl (Marie) Eilander, 69, of 418 1st St. N., a resident of Newton the majority of her life, died Wednesday afternoon, May 23, at Skiff Memorial Hospital
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of Ashton Chapel, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today, May 24. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 25, at the funeral home.
A fund has been established in Mrs. Eilander’s name. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Lloyd of Killduff, Sylvester of Newton and Donald of Albia; four daughters, Mrs. Gene (Betty) McDonald, Mrs. Chris (Barb) Smith, Mrs. Gene (Sherry) Wharff and Mrs. Cindy Shaver, all of Newton; 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Carl (Eva) Henning of Kellogg, Mrs. Terry (Mabel) Kangas of Minnesota, Mrs. Jim (Lora Mae) Horton of Newton, Mrs. Bob (Janice) Pruitt of Tennessee, Mrs. Thelma Allspach of Minnesota; and four brothers, Virgil Reynolds, Frank Reynolds, Francis Reynolds and Sylvester Reynolds, all of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two children and four grandsons.
Mrs. Eilander had been employed at various restaurants in Newton for many years.
The daughter of Sylvester and Lula Gilbert Reynolds, she was born Dec. 13, 1914 in Madison County.
She was married Feb. 13, 1932 at Newton.
