Services Held Nov 28 For Fred Wade
Fred Wade, 91, a longtime resident of Colfax, died Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Riverview Care Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.
The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery.
The organist was Eleanor Howell and the soloist was Susan Riley.
Casket bearers were Phil Ray, George Wade, Arnold Stier, Earl Stevens, Bud Dickerson, and Rick Hyndman.
Honorary bearers were Wilbur Fields, Gene Ray, Gene Dickerson and Marvin Ingraham.
Memorials to the Howard Street Christian Church will be accepted.
Survivors are a daughter, Edith (Mrs. Wilford “Smokey”) Morrow of Colfax; three grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two step-sons, three step-daughters, and three sisters, Ila Lamm of Denver, Colo., Della Peery of Newton and Jessie Stevens of Colfax.
Mr. Wade, a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, was a retired Maytag Co. employee and a truck gardener.
The son of Guy and Margaret Booth Wade, he was born Jan. 7, 1899 in Colfax.
He was married to Ann Gerhart and later to Rose Dickerson.
