Services Held For Leona Banghart
Funeral services for Leona M. Wade Banghart, 75, a resident of Newton since 1930, were held Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bill Adams, associate pastor of the Community Heights Alliance Church, conducted the services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
Mrs. Banghart died of heart failure Nov. 20 at the Skiff Medical Center.
Survivors are a grandson, Daniel Banghart of Newton; five brothers William and Mack Wade, both of Colfax, and George, Guy and LeRoy Wade, all of Newton; four sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Marvin) Howell and Ruby (Mrs. Leon) Murray, both of Newton, Letha (Mrs. Charles) Eddy of Hemet, Calif.; and Mary (Mrs. James) Harmon of Lodi, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Banghart was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard April 8, 1986, and a son, Daniel Paul Aug. 29, 1977.
She had been employed for short periods of time by the Maytag Co. and the Burlington Ammunition factory.
The daughter of Sidney and Anna Stewart Wade, she was born Feb. 13, 1916 at Rockwell City and attended schools in Colfax.
She was married to Leonard Newton Banghart Sept. 30, 1933 in Newton.
