Services Held Saturday For Arlene M. Byal
Arlene Mae Dennis Byal, 63, a lifelong resident of Newton, died of heart failure Thursday morning, Feb. 23, at the Skiff Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jerry Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Survivors are a daughter, Judy Cupples (Mrs. Dan) Shea of Newton; and a sister, Thelma Strawser of Austin, Tex.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger, Feb. 22, 1976, a brother, Norman Dennis, and a sister, Eleanor Lane.
Mrs. Byal, a supervisor of transcribing at Newton Manufacturing at the time of her retirement, was a member of First United Methodist Church, Business and Professional Women and the 25-Year Retirement Club of Newton Manufacturing Co.
The daughter of Alfred and Sadie Schultz Dennis, she was born Feb. 28, 1925 in Newton and was a 1943 graduate of Newton Community High School.
She was married to Roger Rippey Byal Feb. 8, 1947 in Kansas City, Kan.
