Ream Rawlins, Found Dead Early Tuesday Morning
Funeral Service Will Be Held Friday Afternoon At Methodist Church
Ream Rawlins, 43, local electrician and contractor, died suddenly Tuesday morning of heart trouble at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Rawlins in southwest Colfax.
Mr. Rawlins had been in good health as far as anyone seemed to know and Monday night had attended a Golf club party, returning home a little after midnight.
When his father arose Tuesday morning about 5 o’clock, he noticed a light burning in Ream’s room and upon investigating found him on the floor where he had evidently fallen after getting up and turning on the light.
A physician was called who announced he had been dead for probably three hours. The County Coroner R. V. Toland was called and announced that Mr. Rawlins had apparently suffered a heart attack and no inquest would be held.
Mr. Rawlins came to Colfax about six years ago and opened an electric shop, doing wiring and contract work. He was enjoying an excellent business and had several men employed with him most of the time. A fine workman, congenial and pleasant, Mr. Rawlins had won a big place for himself in Colfax and community.
He was born at Prairie City, Nov. 22nd, 1897 and passed away Feb. 4, 1941, aged 43 years, three months and 12 days. His early life was spent in the prairie City community. He worked at the electrical trade in Des Moines for 11 years and spent about 4 years at Mingo.
Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Rawlins with whom he made his home, he is survived by a brother, Lawrence Rawlins of Peoria, Ill., and a half-sister, Mrs. Bessie Knutson of Madison, Wis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the M.E. Church, with the Rev. W. M. Doughty officiating. Burial will be at Prairie City.
