Colfax – Dorothy Phyllis Nicodemus, 88, of Colfax, died Monday, March 8, at Baxter Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax with the Rev. Tom burns, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.
Visitation will be held after noon today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
Memorials to the Howard Street Christian Church or Colfax Senior Citizens will be accepted.
The daughter of John Browning and Edith Mary Wilson Smith, she was born March 4, 1911, in Jefferson. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School and the Wesley School of Nursing in Chicago. She married M. Thor Nicodemus Nov. 18, 1945, in Colfax.
A longtime resident of Colfax, Mrs. Nicodemus worked as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, a 50-year member and past matron of OES, a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, American Legion Auxiliary and Jasper County Nurses Association.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Dell and Edward J. Flattery of Colfax; four grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Provost of Fort Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
