Colfax – Carol De Bruyn, 63, longtime resident of Colfax, died Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Colfax Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Clayton Sugg, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Saturday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband, John L.; a daughter, Diane (Mrs. David) Tingle of South Falls, S.D.; her mother, Marie Newell of Ames; two brothers, Don Newell of Ames and Gene Newell of Guthrie Center; her two grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Powell of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. De Bruyn, who was a teller at the Colfax First National Bank from 1966 to 1989, was a member of the Colfax Presbyterian Church.
The daughter of Lester and Marie Lauridsen Newell, she was born Sept. 30, 1929 in Guthrie Center.
She was a 1948 graduate of Guthrie Center Community High School.
She was married to John L. De Bruyn Dec. 28, 1950 in Des Moines.
