Dale Gearhart, 85, of Colfax died Thursday, December 25, 1997, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, at First Baptist Church in Colfax at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Phil Butler, pastor and Pastor Danny DuRocher, officiating. Burial was at McKeever Cemetery.
Memorials to First Baptist Church or the Colfax Fire Department will be accepted.
The son of Harry and Elizabeth Balmer Gearhart, he was born April 14, 1912, in Newton.
He married Kathryn L. Snook June 26, 1937, in Galena, Illinois.
A lifelong resident of Jasper county, Mr. Gearhart worked as a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colfax.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Mary of Colfax; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Loren Zachary of Ames and Rose Ann and Larry Rowley of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dolly Mackerman of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a grandson, and two brothers.
