Mary Jean Telfer, age 62, died Saturday, October 19, 1996, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, at Colfax United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jill Flyr, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery.
Patsy Evans was the organist, and Walter Williams was the soloist.
Casket bearers were Craig Pierce, Jeff Pierce, Doug Pierce, Allen Nichol, David Wadsworth and Darrin Telfer.
Mrs. Telfer was born August 5, 1934, in Des Moines, the daughter of Dewey and Lilas Brown Wadsworth. A lifelong resident of Colfax, she graduated from Colfax High School in 1952.
She was united in marriage to Robert Telfer on June 5, 1970, in Prairie City. A homemaker, Mary had also worked for many years as a waitress.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Perry.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; two daughters, Angie Telfer and Terri Toye, both of Colfax; a son, Tom Toye; two sisters, Joyce Pierce and Doris Nichol, both of Colfax; one brother, Robert Wadsworth of Colfax; and two grandchildren, Thomas and Randy.
A memorial has been established to be given to the Colfax Fire Department Building fund.
