Robert P. Aikin, 79, of San Dimas, California, a former resident of Colfax, died after a lengthy illness Saturday, October 12, at the San Gabriel Valley Hospice in Covina, California.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m., at the Custer Christiansen Mortuary Chapel in Covina. Pastor Lyle Castellaw officiated.
The pianist was Peggy Duquesnel, and the soloist was Les Nunes, a stepson of Bob’s.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m., at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.
Mr. Aikin was born July 29, 1917, in Colfax, the son of Curtis and Leah Aikin. He was a graduate of Colfax High School and Simpson College.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne, whom he married on July 13, 1969; four sons, John of Olympia, Washington, Roger of Iowa City, Wesley of Irvine, California and Curtis of Aurora, Illinois; four step-children, Leslie Nunes of Fresno, California, Valerie Caliguiri of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael Nunes of Monterey, California and Kathleen Gonzalez of Tehachapi, California; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
