Kathryn L. Gearhart, 81, of Colfax, died Tuesday, August 20, at Skiff Medical Center.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 23, at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with the Rev. Dan DuRocher officiating. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.
Mrs. Gearhart was born May 27, 1915, in Seevers, the daughter of Harry and Rosa Hummel Snook. She attended Newton High School, graduating in 1933.
She was married to Dale Gearhart June 26, 1937, in Galena, Illinois.
A lifelong resident of Jasper County, Mrs. Gearhart moved to Colfax from Newton in 1944. She was a homemaker.
Survivors are her husband, a son and his wife, Ron and Mary Gearhart of Colfax; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Loren Zachary of Ames, and RoseAnn and Larry Rowley of Knoxville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Howard, Burton R. and Lawrence “Butch” Snook, all of Newton; and two sisters, Betty Scott and Carolyn Williams, both of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Memorials to the First Baptist Church of Colfax or the Colfax Ambulance Fund will be accepted.
