Russell Vernon Renfro, 76, of 103 Madison in Colfax, died of a heart ailment Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Integrated Health Services in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with the Rev. Thomas Carpe officiating. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Pat Evans was the organist, and Walter Williams was the soloist.
Casket bearers were Bob Doty, Ed Doty, Jerry Beals, Jack Gibson, Paul Smith and Pete Smith.
Honorary bearers were Bob Clark, Wayne Hill, Dick Beals, Bill Earles, and Dave Davidson.
Mr. Renfro was born November 28, 1919, in Princeton, Missouri, the son of George and Bonnie Arney Renfro.
He married Virginia Crutcher December 10, 1938, in Princeton, Missouri. The couple moved from Princeton to Colfax in 1956. Mr. Renfro was a heavy equipment operator and member of the Local 234 Operating Engineers.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jimmie and Ray, both of Colfax; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Keith Reed and Karen and Russell Lewis, all of Colfax; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and Lee, and a grandchild.
