Audrey Kern Shissler, 95, a longtime resident of Colfax, died Sunday, June 11, at the Griffin Care Center in Knoxville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 14, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The Rev. Tom Carpe, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, conducted services. Interment took place at McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Survivors are a daughter, Bessie Sally of Garden City, California; two sons, Iden of Clive and Gordon of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Lulu Beals of Prairie City; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shissler was preceded in death by her husband in 1953, a son, Gomer, and a sister, Verla Pease.
She was member of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, the Order of Eastern Star and the Christian women’s Fellowship.
Mrs. Shissler, a homemaker, was a cook in the Colfax school hot lunch program for 25 years.
The daughter of William and Mary Jane Howard Kern, she was born February 18, 1900, at Estherville. She was married to Curtis Shissler October 29, 1919, in Newton.
Memorials to the Howard Street Christian Church will be accepted.
