James Harvey (Buck) Sager, Sr., 77, of Montezuma, Iowa, died Thursday, April 1, 1999 of emphysema at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, Iowa with Dr. George M. Salnave officiating. Burial was at Ashton Chapel Cemetery in Mingo.
He was born February 17, 1922 near Greencastle, Iowa, the son of Simon Thomas and Sarah Mary (Teed) Sager. He was raised in Colfax area.
On October 22, 1956 he was united in marriage with Shirley Gragg at Mitchellville, Iowa. He worked for Monroe Folding Table Company in Colfax until he was disabled and retired. They moved to Montezuma from Lynnville, where they lived for several years.
Buck is survived by his family, wife, Shirley of Montezuma; five children, James Sager and wife, Aileen, Dennis Sager, Taina and husband, Brian Steine, and Mary and husband, Travis Moore all of Montezuma and Dee Ann Sager and fiancée Paul Kirkeby of Johnston, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron, Jamie, April, Gina, Tyler and Luke; two sisters, Mrs. Bob (Violet) Gulling of Colfax, and Mrs. Kermit (Peg) Wickett of Valeria; and other relatives and friends.
