Bessie May Cunningham, 99, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Genesis Senior Living Center in Des Moines. Graveside services were held Saturday, April 19 at Greencastle Cemetery in Colfax.
Bessie was born February 3, 1904 in Mingo to Melvin and Grace (Neal) Osborn and grew up in Colfax. Bessie was a long-time resident of Ankeny before moving to Des Moines in 1989. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Church.
She is survived by her son, Edward Cross of Granger; sister, Viola Suvercrubbe of Colorado; eight grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Cunningham and a son, David Cross.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
