Despondent Over Health Farmer Ends Life With a Shot Gun on Tuesday Last Week
Collins Gazette: - The community was immeasurably shocked on Tuesday afternoon upon hearing that Harry Edwards, who lived on the Ray Tiffany farm, 3 miles east of Collins, had taken his own life. Cause for his action is unknown, although he had been in ill health.
About one o’clock he went to do some chores. It was nearly three o’clock when Mrs. Edwards went in search of him, finding his body in the oats bin of a double corn crib where had ended his life with a 410 gauge shot gun, the shot entering his temple. Coroner Mills was summoned, but no inquest was held as it was a self-evident case of suicide.
Mr. Edwards was a respected citizen and had lived on the Tiffany farm for the past three years. He was well and favorably known throughout this section.
He was about 42 years old and is survived by his widow and three children, Irene, Lytle and Lloyd, at home; his mother who lives at Perry; two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services and interment were made at Ashton Chapel on Thursday afternoon, February 2nd.
