PELLA -- Nick A. Leydens, 48, of Pella, formerly of Colfax died Tuesday, March 2, at Pella Comfort House in Pella.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax with the Rev. Philip Cardenzana and the Rev. Robert Gruss officiating the service. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today at the church, and the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be a vigil service Thursday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, Hospice of Pella or St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella.
The son of Nicholas and Mary (Stremfel) Leydens, he was born March 26, 1955, in Des Moines. He graduated from the special education program at Colfax High School and worked in the workshop at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella. He moved with his parents to Pella in 1979. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church while in Colfax and later St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella. He enjoyed going to Branson, Mo., every year, as well as fast rides at amusement parks. He also enjoyed music, big rings and family gatherings.
Survivors include his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Kelly Leydens of West Des Moines; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Bell of Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.
