Services Tuesday for L. N. Young, Kellogg Farmer

L. N. (Nite) Young

L. N. (Nite) Young, 80, Rte. 2, Kellogg, died early Saturday morning at a local hospital after a month's illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Elder S. L. Pettus of Macon, Mo., officiating. Vocalists will be Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neighbors, and Clair Wilson and Gordon Neighbors. Pallbearers will be Roy Brown, Everett Cooper, Virgil Doud, Loren Elliott, Glen Phipps, and Ray G. White. Interment will be in Rock Creek cemetery.

He was the son of George Washington and Martha Jane Van Meter Young and was born in Rock Creek township, Jasper county, on Dec. 3rd, 1871.

On Jan 22nd, 1905, he was united in marriage with Emma Koger at Kellogg by the Rev. L. A. Crull. Four sons were born to this union, one of whom survives, Olaf L. Young at the family home.

Mr. Young had farmed all of his life in the Rock Creek area. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three sons. Beryl in 1956, Hollis in 1960, and an infant in 1907. He was also preceded in death by a brother, General Waine Young in 1942.

He is survived by his son, Olaf; two grandchildren, Mrs. William E. (Bette) Sample of Panama City, Fla., and Evelyn Wright of Chariton; one great grandson, Michael E. Sample; one sister, Mrs. Laura Bell Adkins of Grinnell; and one brother, Edward Oliver Young of Compton, Calif.
