Death of another old citizen
James D. Young Sr.

Died of Brights Disease at his home in North Newton, on Thursday November 3, 1904 James D. Young Sr., aged 83.

Deceased was a native of Germany having been born in Byron, September 17, 1822.

He married to Elizabeth Eckrote, near Madison, Ohio who died last June.

They came to Newton Thirty-five years ago. For a number of years Mr. John D. Young kept a restaurant but for nearly seven years has been unable to attend to business owing to increasing age and infirmities.

His family consisted of ten children, seven of whom are still living. Five of these live in Newton, as follows, Wm. F.; Fred. O.; David F., Mrs. D. F. Drew and Mrs. J. C. Harvey, Frank lives in Marshalltown and J. D. Jr. in Des Moines.

The funeral was held on Friday afternoon and the body interned in the Newton cemetery.
