Sherman Edward Woods

Sherman Edward Woods, 91, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday at the Jasper County Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson Chapel. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery at Kellogg.

Friends may call at the Johnson Chapel after 6 p.m. today.

Survivors are a son, Jay, of Kellogg; a daughter, Mrs. Letha Raridon of Kellogg, two grandchildren, Dr. Richard J. Raridon of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Mrs. Thomas H. Upton of Garland, Tex; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Tranna, in 1948, and one sister.

Mr. Woods had been a farmer before his retirement.

The son of John D. and Bethania Masteller Woods, he was born Dec. 2, 1875 near Kellogg and was educated in the Jasper County schools.

He was married to Tranna Mae Young Dec. 2, 1908 at Kellogg. ~ Newton Daily News; March 1, 1967
