Wood, Arthur Owen

Wood - At the home of Abner Jenks, on Wednesday, Aug 23rd, 1876, of consumption, Arthur Owen Wood, aged 17 years and 5 months.

He was born in Berwick, Ill, and losing his parents when quite young come to live with Mr. Jenks, Mrs. Jenks being his aunt, and remained with them until a little over a year ago when he came to town to learn telegraphy with his brother, George Wood, who is operator here.

Some time ago he fell sick and his disease developing into consumption. His brother George, sent him to Colorado, hoping the climate would cure him. He gradually grew worse and his brother brought him home to Mr. Jenks, where at last he went to sleep, no more to wake in this world. He was a good boy and beloved by all who knew him. His only sister, who lives in Erie County, Pa., will arrive today, too late, however, to see him. ~ Prairie City News 01 Sep 1876
