Wolfe, Gary D.

Funeral services for Gary D. Wolfe, 42, of 2305 E. 19th St. N., a lifelong resident of Newton, will be held at 11 am Monday, Aug. 29, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

He died Monday, Aug. 22, at a strip pit pond near Knoxville. The cause of death is undetermined, pending results of an autopsy.

The Rev, A. B. Sudbrock, pastor of the Newton Baptist Temple, and of Des Moines, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday and visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Linda K.; a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn Douglas and Shaun Danielle of Newton; a sister, Mari Jo (Mrs. John) De Grado of Newton; his parents, James and Barbara Wolfe of Newton; and a special friend, Ricky Healey of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ted and Frances Jack, and paternal grandmother, Carrie Sayre.

Mr. Wolfe, an employee in the dryer assembly department of the Maytag Co. since 1971, was a member of the First Assembly of God, United Auto Workers, Local 997, and National Rifle Association and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

The son of James and Barbara Jack Wolfe, he was born July 31, 1952 in Newton and was a 1970 graduate of Newton Community High School.

He was married to Linda Kay Hedge Sept. 11, 1970 in Newton. ~ Newton Daily News, August 1994
