Hattie Mae White, 82, of Grinnell died Wednesday at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Autopsy results were pending. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery near Newton.

Mrs. White was born near Laurel and lived in Grinnell several years. She was a retired food-service worker and a member of First Federated Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge of Grinnell and White Shrine of Newton.

Survivors include five sons, Wayne Kinnaird of East Dubuque, Ill., Wendell Kinnaird and Earl Kinnaird, both of Grinnell, Bill Kinnaird of Altoona and Jerry Kinnaird of Salina, Kan.; three daughters, Donna Grovenburg, Joan Moyer and Judith McCulley, all of Grinnell; a brother, Vearl Benskin of Iowa City; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. ~ Des Moines Register March 21, 1997

GRINNELL, Iowa - Hattie Mae (Pat) White, 82, of 90 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Wednesday, March 19 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery near Newton.

Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Shriner's Children's Hospital will be accepted.

Born Dec. 2, 1914 near Wesley, Mrs. White was the daughter of Curtis and Lillie Hutchinson Benskin. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1933.

On Nov 20, 1935, she married Donald Kinnaird. The couple farmed near Laurel, Searsboro, Grinnell and later near Wesley. On March 1, 1973 she married Gerald White and was employed by Northwest Hospital in Des Moines. Following the death of her second husband Mrs. White moved to Grinnell in the mid 1970s. She retired in 1981 and moved to Brookside South.

She was a member of the First Federated Church of Des Moines, the Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and the White Shrine of Newton.

Survivors include five sons, including Wendell and Earl Kinnaird, both of Grinnell; three daughters, Donna M. Grovenburg, Joan K. Moyer and Judith R. McCulley, all of Grinnell; 17 grand children; four great grandchildren; and a brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one brother, Arthur Curtis Benskin. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 20, 1997.
