Last Rites Set

Funeral services for Elmer Whitcomb, 78 years old, rancher and veteran schoolteacher in Phoenix and vicinty, who died Wednesday afternoon [Nov. 24, 1943], will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Colonial Chapel of the Mortensen-Kingsley Mortuary. Interment will be in Double Butte Cemetery.

Mr. Whitcomb was born in Des Moines, Ia., on August 5th, 1865. On May 2, 1902, he married Mary Schfer. He taught school in Iowa for 20 years before coming to Arizona in 1913. During his years of teaching in this vicinity he served at the Balsz, Jordan, Buckeye and Riverside schools. He retired a few years ago and had devoted his time since his retirement to ranching east of Phoenix.

He is survived by the wife, Mary, a son Paul of Phoenix; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Wilkins of Kellogg, Ia. and Mrs. Eve Breeden of Newburg, Ia., and two grandchildren. Published Unknown date and newspaper.
