Mrs. Wheeler's Sudden Death

The sad and very unexpected news of the death of Mrs. Sarah Wheeler, was received last Sunday by her brother Mr. Andes Turck. Mrs. Wheeler left Newton some two or three weeks ago for Ashland, Oregon, where she intended to make her home with her daughters, and it is evident that she was taken ill with a fever soon after her arrival, from which she died on Saturday.

She was past fifty-eight years of age and had lived in this vicinity for forty-seven years. She was married to Joseph R. Wheeler of this city in 1858, and was the mother of eight children, seven of whom are living - Orville, of Sherman Township, Mrs. Jas. Main and Ernest Wheeler of Des Moines, Mrs. Claretta Loomis and Eunice, Delcia and Anthony of Ashland, Oregon.

She was a good woman and her death carries sorrow to the hearts of hundreds of Jasper County friends. ~ The Newton Record, Thursday, March 29, 1900, Page 1, Column 2
