Death of Corda Wert

Miss Corda Wert, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Wert, died at the home of her parents on Monday, the 20th inst., (of this month) and was buried Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Ferguson conducting the funeral services.

Corda’s age was 21 years, having been born and reared in this city. For about a year she has been gradually wearing away by that dread disease consumption. She was a pure, earnest Christian girl, a member of the U. P. Church, and bore her affliction with true Christian fortitude. To her parents and friends the tenderest sympathy is extended. ~ The Newton Record Friday, May 28, 1897
