William Keefer Dies Monday; Rites Friday
William F. Keefer, 70, 310 W. 2nd St. N., a resident of Newton since 1919, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Lawrence Athey, minister of the Center Friends Church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; a son, William D., Cypress, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Chester (Elsa Mae) Olsen of Canoga Park, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. George (Tollie) Kershaw of Laramie, Wyo., and a brother, Chris Keefer of Columbus, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Mr. Keefer, a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, was manager of the meat department at Farmers Super market prior to his retirement.
Born Sept. 3, 1900 at Columbus, Neb., he attended Columbus schools and resided in the Columbus area until moving to Newton.
