John H. Kelso Dies Toda; Rites Thursday
John H. Kelso, 93, 121 Country Club Acres, resident of Newton since 1927, died this morning at Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are a son, James of Chariton; four daughters, Mrs. George (Frances) Miller of North Liberty, Mrs. Archie (Minnie) Darr of Newton, Mrs. James (Hazel) Atz of Newton and Mrs. Frank (Lottie) Stitzer of Newton; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1962, a son, a daughter, five brothers and two sisters.
The son of Joseph and Anna Lucas Kelso, he was born Sept. 5, 1877 in Panama, Mo.
He was married to Bessie Draper Dec. 25, 1899 at Panama.
