Probasco, Robert "Ike"
Robert "Ike" Probasco, 50, of 708 W. 2nd St. S., a resident of Newton since 1941, died Thursday morning, Dec. 7, at Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Frederick Kramer, retired Episcopal clergyman, will conduct services.
Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery where a flag presentation will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; four stepson, Randy Johnson of Newton, Rick Johnson of Griswold, Tracy Johnson of St. Cloud, Minn., and Tim Johnson of Arizona; seven step-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Probasco of Altoona, Don Probasco of Newton and Tom Probasco of LuVerne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Probasco, a truck driver, had been employed at the Maytag Co. for 24 years.
A member of the Moose Lodge 923 and United Auto Workers, Local 997, Mr. Probasco had served in the Navy in the late 1950s.
The son of Ronald A. and Eva Coleen Gale Probasco, he was born Dec. 4, 1939 in Longview, Texas, and was graduated from Newton Community High School.
He was married to Dorothy Allfree Johnson March 18, 1989 at Cotter, Ark.
Mr. Probasco moved with his family to Newton from Texas.
