Monday Services For Mrs. Parkhurst

Mary Louisa Parkhurst of 703 First Ave., Grinnell, passed away Friday evening at Grinnell General Hospital. She was 83 years old.

The daughter of Daniel and Louisa Sullivan, she was born on Aug. 31, 1884, at Omaha, Neb. On Nov. 27, 1906, she was united in marriage with Charles Earl Parkhurst at Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union were born five children - Arthur Parkhurst of Des Moines, Willard Parkhurst of Des Moines, Mrs. Inez Erickson of Tama, Mrs. Mary Grosenbach of Grinnell, and Margaret Louise Parkhurst, who passed away in 1946. Following their marriage, the Parkhursts farmed in the Lacey and New Sharon communities until 1941 when they moved to Grinnell.

She was a member of the Assembly of God church.

In addition to her four children, she is survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and her brother-in-law, Homer Talbert of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, a sister, and her daughter Margaret.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parkhurst were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home, with the Rev. Samuel Reeves, pastor of the Assembly of God church, officiating. Interment was at the Forest cemetery at Oskaloosa.

Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers included Larry Sedrel, Donald Beach, Donald Sedrel, Gerry Grosenbach Jr., Richard Brummell, and Dennis Rosenberg.
