Obituary
Huff-Obst, Rosella (Van Pelt)Rosella L. Obst Huff, 66, of 714 1st St. S., died of heart failure Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996, at Skiff Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Pence Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Matthew Martens, pastor of First Lutheran Church in Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial park Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today with family visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Wallace Pence Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to Hospice of Jasper County.
Survivors include a step-son Charles D. Huff of Newton; two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Frank) Altemeier of Newton and Jeanette (Mrs. Steven) McVay of Newton; a step-daughter, Barbara Van Rees of Altoona; a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Violet Van Pelt of Spirit Lake; two sisters, Eleanor Phelps of Milford and Stella Glover of Soap Lake, Wash.; three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, six great-step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clifford Van Pelt in 1986, and her first husband, Lloyd F. Obst, on Jan. 14, 1977, and her second husband, Arlo J. Huff, on Oct. 4, 1996.
The daughter of George and Maude L. Provancha Van Pelt, she was born Feb. 12, 1930 in Obert, Neb.
A resident of Newton since 1950, she married Lloyd F. Obst March 11, 1948 in Wayne, Neb. She worked as a waitress in Nebraska until moving to Newton where she worked at the Vernon Company until retiring in January 1992.
She was married to Arlo J. Huff on April 23, 1992 at Newton. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Newton.
