Death of Miss Anna Moran

Moran, Margaret Anna

Miss Anna Moran passed away at her home in this city on Monday morning, Feb. 12th, just after the dawn of day, after a protracted illness with consumption. There is a peculiar sadness connected with the death of this beautiful girl, and her long unequal struggle against the disease, which she so much dreaded and which finally claimed her pure young life as a sacrifice. Within less than three years her mother and two sisters have died of the same disease; Celia, aged 17, died on the 9th of March, 1897; the mother, who had gone to New Mexico in the hope of regaining health, died on the 9th of March, 1898, and was brought back for burial; Kate, aged 19, passed away on the 19th of October of the same year, and now Anna sleeps beside her loved ones in our beautiful city of the dead.

Anna, accompanied by her two sisters, Addie and Agnes, went to California in December 1898, and remained until September of last year, hoping that in the sunny clime the bloom of her health might be brought back to her cheeks a hope which seemed to be realized when they returned; but alas, the treacherous disease again asserted itself and completed its deadly work in spite of skilled physicians and the tender care of loved ones.

Margaret Annie Moran was born in Killduff, June 24, 1873, where she lived until about five years ago, when the family moved to Newton, building the beautiful home into which has come so much sorrow. She was a devoted Christian girl, and a faithful member of the Catholic Church. She leaves two sisters and two brothers, Addie, Agnes, Edward and Thomas Moran. The funeral services were held at 10 o’clock today in the Sacred Heart Church of this city, conducted by Father Moron.
