Mrs. McMurray dies on Tuesday; Services Friday

Mrs. William C. (Lynette) McMurray, 88, of 310 E. Fourth St., N., a resident of Newton since 1897, died Tuesday at Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Fr. Federick Kramer, rector of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Heart Fund will be accepted. Mrs. McMurray will lie in state in Johnson Funeral Chapel after 6 pm today.

Survivors are two sons, Dr. Edward A. of Newton and Dr. Herbert C. of Manchester, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Maude) Cook of Zearing; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1957.

Mrs. McMurray was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 100; member of the PEO, Chapter AO, since 1902; Daughters of Union Veterans, Newton Women's Club and St. Stephen's Guild.

The daughter of Edward B. and Nancy Burnell Payne, she was born October 26, 1879, in Berkeley, Calif. She was married to William C. McMurray June 6, 1899, in Marshalltown.
