CONDUCT RITES AT MARSHALLTOWN FOR SARAH McATEER
Sarah McAteer (nee Campbell)

Mrs. David McAleer, 78, of Marshalltown, a former Grinnell resident , died at a Marshalltown July 21st. She had been in ill health for several years Funeral services were held Wednesday at Marshalltown with the Rev. Arthold Latham of Indianola officiating. Burial was in the Friends cemetery at LeGrand.

Born Sarah Campbell on May 13th, 1884, in County Antrim, Ireland, she was he daughter of John and Matilda Erskin Campbell. She received her education and grew to womanhood in Ireland, coming to the United States in 1920.

On March 18th, 1920, in Ireland, she was united in marriage with David McAteer and they made their home in the Gilman, Grinnell, and Laurel areas before movng to Marshalltown in 1942. Mrs. McAteer attended the First Friends Church and was a member of the Brittanica Club.

Survivors include her husband, David, a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Lathan of LeGrand; three grandchildren, Judy, Jacque and Dennis Lathan of LeGrand; and two brothers, Samuel and Erskin Campbell, both in Ireland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
