Martha Saak, 75, Longtime Baxter Resident, Dies
Baxter – Mrs. William (Martha) Saak, 75, a longtime resident of Baxter, died Sunday near Newton after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Baxter Congregational church.
The Rev. T. A. Thompson, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Restland cemetery at Baxter.
Boyd-Nickell funeral home at Baxter is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Saak is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Vera) Osten of Baxter; a grandson, Norman Lee Osten of Baxter; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Krampe and Mrs. Sophia Saak of Baxter and Mrs. Lydia Tinnermeier of Newton; and a brother, Louis Kanne, of Baxter.
Mrs. Saak was a member of the Baxter Congregational Christian church.
The daughter of Henry and Louise Kanne, she was born July 30, 1884 east of Baxter.
Educated in rural schools, she was married in Baxter to William Saak April 29, 1908.
They farmed east of Baxter until 1914, moving to a farm west of Baxter. Mrs. Saak moved to Baxter after her husband’s death in 1947.
