Former Resident, Francis A. Neal, Dies in Oregon
Former Newton resident Francis A. (Bun) Neal, 62, Bay City, Ore., died April 29 in a hospital at Wheeler, Ore., following a heart attack. Funeral services were at Bay City, May 2, the Rev. Thomas Whitehead officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie, and a son, Arthur, both of Bay City; two daughters, Julia Josi of Tilamook and Shirlee Leatherman of Puyallup, Wash., three brothers, including John of 1020 First Ave. E.; and five sisters, including Mrs. Lee (Betty) Thompson of 1123 W. Ninth St. S., Mrs. Wilbur (Aubrey) Goebel, Garwin; 12 grandchildren and his stepmother, Mrs. Gail Neal, 311 ½ First St. S.
A nephew, Richard Jeannette, who was raised in Neal’s home, now lives at Grinnell.
Neal, who left Newton in 1925 and moved to Oregon in 1930, was past Noble Grand of Pacific Lodge No 105, IOOF, past president of the Oregon School Employes Association and was a member of the Kilchis Grange No. 800 and the Tilamook Rock Club.
