SERVICES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR GERALD S. LAROS
Gerald S. Laros

Funeral services for Gerald S. Laros, 63, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Dewey, minister of the Grinnell Congregational church officiating.

Following cremation inurnment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

A longtime Grinnell businessman, Mr. Laros died suddenly at his home March 23.

He was the son of David Augustus and Sarah E. Snyder Laros and was born July 19, 1898, in Grinnell. He graduated from Grinnell high school and from Stanford University in 1920.

On June 28, 1922, he was united in marriage with Josphine Kutish in Grinnell by the Rev. Cross. Two children were born to this union: Mrs. James J. (Joan) Jeffas of Adelphi, Md., and Dr. Gerald S. Laros of Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. Laros had lived in Grinnell most of his life. He had operated the Laros News Stand since 1931 until his retirement in 1961. He was a member of the Congregationsl church, the Men's Club of the church, the American Legion, and was a scoutmaster for eight years with Troop 306.

Survivors include the two children; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Freyman of Allentown, Pa., Mrs. Sarah Lorish and Mrs. Karl (Ruth) Klein, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Ray (Naomi) Goodrich of Long Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his widow Josephine on May 23, 1961; six brothers and three sisters.
