George Frank LaneGeorge F. Lane, 93, of Nelson Manor Nursing Home, a resident of Jasper County since 1925, died this morning at the Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Den Hartog, pastor of the Metz Community Church, will conduct services. Burial will be at the Oak View Cemetery in Albia at 3 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Friday.
Survivors are four sons, Kenneth, Philip, Leo and Donald, all of Newton; 21 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a sister, Christina "Babe" Anderson of Albia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Selma O. Anderson, in November, 1955; his second wife, Lula Scott Bilterman in February, 1979; two sons, Paul of Albia in 1920 and Ted of Ira in 1974; two brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Lane had worked as a coal miner in the Hiteman area for many years before moving to Jasper County to work at the Maytag Co. and later at the Maytag Farms.
The son of Thomas E. and Christina Weir Lane, he was Born April 17, 1888 in Albia. He was married to Selma O. Anderson July 16, 1910 in Albia and to Lula Scott Bilterman Sept. 30, 1956 in Ottumwa.
