CHARLES KOPPIN SERVICES HELD
Charles Friederich KoppinFuneral services for Charles Koppin, 79, were conducted Saturday afternoon by the Rev. F.D. Boldt. Internment was in the Newton Union Cemetary.
Pallbearers were Fred Dammeier, Henry Ebert, Vern Klopping, John Adams, Charles Altemeier and Elmer Wessel. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Fred Dammeier and Mrs. Henry Ebert.
Music was furnished by Mr. Mrs. Marvin Harvey singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages". Mrs. Vern Klopping accompanied them.
Charles Koppin was born in Perits, Germany, on October 17,186l, and died January 14, 1941, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital at Newton, Iowa. He had entered the hospital a night before.
When a young man he came with his parents to the United States and thence to Jasper County. He had lived on his present farm on Route 1 since his marriage in 1898 to Lena Brune Kracht.
Surviving relatives are his widow; a son, Glenn; six daughters, Mrs. Albert Brooks of Kellogg, Rose at home, Mrs. Lloyd Hutchinson of Kellogg, Esther at home, Mrs. Tom Birchard of Kellogg and Mrs. Clair Schnell of Lynnville; a step-son, Walter Koppin; a Step-daughter, Mrs. Ray Allen of Kellogg; a number of grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother, William in St. Paul, Minn; two sisters, Mrs. Will Ebert of Langdon,N.D. and Mrs. Lena Koppin of Freeport, Ill. A brother and three sisters preceded him in death.

Note: Carl Friederich Koppin was born 17 October 1861, in Prussia, Pommern, Koeslitz, Kr. Pyritz. (Northern Germany, now Poland) Changed name to CHARLES after coming to U.S.A.
