Kilgore Funeral Held Wednesday

Funeral services for Jesse Kilgore of Edge Water, Colorado, were held Wednesday afternoon from Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. George Farniss of the Presbyterian church officiating. The music: "Shall We Meet Beyond the River" and "My Jesus as Thou Wilt" was furnished by Mrs. C. H. McClean and Mrs. William Carrier.

The pallbearers were: H.S. Morrison, J.M. Davidson, A.T. Guthrie, L.A. Russell, T.C. Dalzell and C.H. McClean.

Mr. Kilgore died April 10 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Lindsey at Denver, Colorado. He was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania August 22,1842. He came to Iowa when a young man. He was married December 28, 1870 to Miss Ellvira Ellis at Iowa City, Iowa. To this union were born four children, Orville J. deceased, Ethel E. Boyd of Denver, Colorado, Charles H. of Newton and Edith B. Lindsey of Denver. Mrs. Kilgore died at Newton April 30, 1901.

Since early manhood his whole life was spent in this city and immediate community with the exception of the last two years which were spent in Denver. Besides his two daughters and son he is survived by his four sisters, three of whom live at Monroe and one at Reasnor. Mr. Kilgore was a member of the Presbyteerian church where for several years he acted as care-taker. ~ Newton Daily News April 15, 1920
