Word has been received of the death of George Kelly, a former Newton resident, which occurred at Audubon, Ia., last week, as a result of the gripe. George was a nephew of Mrs. Capt. Lamb and the Kennedy boys, his mother being their sister. Most of his early life was spent in Newton. When the Civil War broke out, he enlisted in Company I, Tenth Iowa, and served for three years. He had been married twice, having ten children by his first marriage and two by the second. His age was fifty-six years when he died.
